The Mankato Senior Walther League

The Mankato Senior Walther League of 1947

This organization was organized at a banquet which was held on March 28, 1924 in the Sunday School auditorium of Immanuel Lutheran Church, and it held its first meeting on April 11, 1924.

The chief object of this organization is to further the study of Christian knowledge and to keep the young people together within the church. It has ten chief objectives: To assist the pastor and serve in the congregation in every way possible; to promote a systematic study of the Bible; to do Christian service work; to promote hospice work for new-comers; to do mission work; to provide wholesome entertainment; to do charity work; to work for loyalty within the Christian home; to further the work of the International organization, and to unite all the young people in the Synodical Conference into one body, thus establishing a strong outward union among them.

The Walther League within our congregation has been active in most of these endeavors. They have served their pastors and church, doing Christian service work, mission work, and supporting many projects by their financial contributions.

Any communicant member of Immanuel Lutheran Church is eligible for membership in this group which holds its meeting on the first and third Tuesday of each month.

The present officers are: Armand Timm, president; Donald Roe, vice-president; Edna Haarstick, secretary; Arthur Hausberg, treasurer; and Augusta Wolters, librarian.
