Morality—God does Establish an Absolute Code of Conduct

A Word of Truth #025

Is there such a thing as an absolute code of morality—things that are absolutely right and absolutely wrong? Many in today’s society would answer that question with a “no.” They suggest that any code of morality is a matter of human opinion and, therefore, subject to continuous change.

God, however, has established an absolute code of morality. He tells us what is absolutely right and what is absolutely wrong in His Word—the Bible. The Psalmists asks, “How can a young man cleanse his way?” He then answers, “By taking heed according to Your Word.” (Psalm 119:1) The Psalmist also assures us, “Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD!” (Psalm 119:1)

The God, who created us, has also created a code of conduct for us, which, if followed, will result in blessing.

Children are a Blessing to be Cherished

A Word of Truth #026

“My heart rejoices in the Lord…I smile at my enemies…” (1 Samuel 2:1f). What could have so filled Old Testament Hannah with such great joy? Had she become rich? Yes, but not with money. Hannah had, after many long years of praying, become a mother!

Hannah cherished her son, Samuel, as a gift from God. King Solomon writes in Psalm 127, “…Behold! Children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb is His reward.” (Psalm 127:1,3).

Jesus demonstrated His love for children when He said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God” (Mark 10:14).

Children are one of the great gifts which God desires to give a husband and a wife in their marriage. Parenting is work and can be frustrating because children like their parents are sinners living in a sinful world. However, when God creates a new life through the love of a man and a woman and gives them a child, it is one of His greatest earthly blessings.
