A Word of Truth #027
Prayer is the special privilege of God’s children to communicate directly with Him—the most powerful being in the universe. God invites and encourages His children to pray to Him regularly and often. As we pray to God in the name of Jesus (cf. John 16:23) and in accordance with His will (cf. 1 John 5:14), we can rest assured that God will hear and respond to those prayers.
The Bible says, “The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayers” (1 Peter 3:12). It also says, “All things, whatever you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive” (Matthew 21:22).
Indeed, God always answers the prayers of His believing children. Let us only remember that God in His wisdom will answer those prayers in His own way and at His own time. There may even be times when our gracious God will see fit to answer our prayer requests with a, “no,” or a “not at this time.”
A Word of Truth #028
Parents—how do you view your role in your children’s lives?
God desires you to view your role in your children’s lives as one of great responsibility toward a soul redeemed by Christ.
You are not simply parenting your children for their lives on the earth. God has given you the responsibility of instructing them for eternal life! This would be impossible, except God has given you HIS WORD to accomplish this. God says, “…do not exasperate your children, but bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4 NIV).
The empty philosophy of the world suggests that parents should let their children choose their own spiritual way. Would a loving and conscientious parent let his toddler navigate a busy intersection on his own? ABSOLUTELY NOT! Then why would he allow his child to take himself through this life with its many spiritual enemies?
God says, “Parents, I have given your children to YOU. YOU take responsibility. YOU train them by using my Word and your efforts will not be wasted…not now and not for eternity!”
