How do you get into a room? Obviously, by using the door!

People easily accept the fact that if they want to enter a one-door, no window room, they must use that one door. Yet, when Jesus says He is the ONLY way to the forgiveness of sins and eternal life, rebellious sinners cry out: “Unfair! Discrimination! I want to get in another way!!”

Jesus says, “I AM the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).

Because of our sins, we deserve to have NO WAY to the Father, to be barred from any entrance to eternal life. Yet, the truth which Jesus brings is that He has lived and died to forgive our sins and thus He has opened heaven’s door for us.

Jesus is the one way to the Father and life with Him. Rather than cries of “unfair” we can lift up cries of thanksgiving that God in His grace has provided us with a Way—Jesus Christ, our Savior!

God Uses His Word to Sanctify His Believing Children

“Read and follow all label directions.” “Listen carefully as I read you the directions for this test.” Manufacturers and educators use the written and spoken word to inform their customers or students, and so prepare them for tasks ahead.

It should not be surprising, therefore, that God would choose to use the written and spoken word to inform us of His gracious good will. Jesus once prayed to His heavenly Father, “Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth” (John 17:17). The Bible is God’s inspired Word and is true in all its parts. The Holy Spirit uses the Bible as it is read or proclaimed to work faith in our hearts, to instruct us concerning His will, and to prepare us for faithful service in this world until God takes us to our heavenly home.
